Located in the heart of the beautiful Wemmershoek Valley, DHM is more than just a holiday destination—it is a place where nature takes centre stage.
Whether you are seeking a peaceful escape from city life, a family day out, or simply a chance to reconnect with the outdoors, the Wemmershoek Valley provides a breathtaking backdrop that captivates visitors throughout the year.
Spectacular Mountain Scenery
One of the first things visitors notice upon arriving at DHM is the dramatic mountain landscape that surrounds the resort. Towering peaks, rugged cliffs, and rolling hills create an ever-changing panorama that reflects the beauty of each season.
In the early morning, the mountains are often draped in soft mist, while sunsets paint the valley in shades of gold, orange, and pink. These spectacular views provide endless opportunities for photography, relaxation, and simply appreciating the natural world.
A Rich Diversity of Indigenous Vegetation
The Wemmershoek Valley forms part of the world-renowned Cape Floral Kingdom, one of the most biologically diverse regions on Earth. The area is home to a variety of indigenous plants, shrubs, and trees that contribute to the valley's unique character and ecological importance.
Throughout the year, visitors can observe seasonal changes in the landscape as indigenous vegetation flourishes and blooms, adding colour and texture to the surrounding environment. This rich natural heritage plays a vital role in supporting local wildlife and maintaining the ecological balance of the valley.
Wildlife in a Natural Setting
Nature enthusiasts will appreciate the variety of wildlife that can be encountered within and around the resort.
The peaceful environment allows visitors to enjoy nature in a respectful and responsible manner while observing the many creatures that call this area home. Every visit offers the possibility of discovering something new and unexpected.

The Wemmershoek Valley is particularly popular among bird lovers. The combination of river systems, indigenous vegetation, open spaces, and mountainous terrain creates ideal habitats for a wide variety of bird species.
Visitors may be fortunate enough to spot sunbirds feeding among flowering plants, majestic raptors soaring overhead, kingfishers near watercourses, or a variety of other indigenous birds that contribute to the valley's vibrant natural soundtrack.
Even casual observers will enjoy the sights and sounds of birds throughout the day, making every walk through the resort a rewarding experience.
